Our Little Team

Tiny but powerful. We’re a small group of committed researchers and evaluators, and we like it that way—it means that we get to spend more time on what we believe in most.

Our mission is to be guides, empowering our clients find or re-find true north and chart a path toward it. It’s easy to lose sight of, and we help organizations and communities keep their sights trained on their purpose and vision with impact measurement and storytelling, on-going monitoring, project development and evaluation, targeted research, and proposal writing.

We love working with clients who know who they are and who they aspire to be, even if they aren’t sure how best to achieve it. We help them define true north and navigate each day and each project in connection with that lodestar. We are Azimuth.

Our Expertise

The team works just as happily in education as it does business and in public policy. We have experience taking on targeted research on subjects as varied as leadership and wine biochemistry. We have worked on methods and analyses that span the range of sophistication in qualitative coding and statistical testing, and we design the larger projects of which they are a part.

What we do best is bring expertise in academic research design to bear on social impact assessment, fundraising, monitoring and evaluation, needs assessment, and systematic inquiry:

  • We have led complex mixed methods research projects using analysis of 100+ interviews and cluster analysis related to anemia, depression, C. difficile infections, and interstitial lung diseases for a medical research firm. These yielded insights to catalyze their growth, taking on new contracts and growing their marketing footprint.

  • For district-level leadership in education, we have conducted systematic research about the mechanism by which superintendent leadership impacts student achievement and how this is moderated by standards-based educational practice.

  • To support a non-profit leader helping her organization as she pursued a doctoral degree, we managed a full research project—from focus and methods design to analysis and editing—into the ways that non-profit leaders maintain donor trust and ensure sustainability.

  • We designed the statistical testing plan and conducted a power analysis to determine minimum sample size for a grant proposal to fund a culturally competent care intervention for patients with heart failure.

In all that we do, Azimuth can help your organization. We keep your sights on the goals that you have set for your business, your organization, your future. Using the power that data can provide, we help you stay on course and get to your destination without losing your path along the way.

By gathering the right data, using available resources, and conducting focused research, we monitor and evaluate the most effective ways of reaching your goals. We develop research plans to determine the impact of the work you do. Then from implementing these plans and gathering data (both qualitative and quantitative) to finding results, writing impact reports, and charting your next steps, Azimuth is your support.
